In 1931 Parma was incorporated and had a population of just under 14,000 people. However, because of the great depression the cities growth slowed to a halt. By the 1940s, just before the US entered WWII, Parma suddenly started getting more and more new buildings being built and businesses moving into town. This growth continued until the 1970s where the city had a population of over 100,000 people. Today the population is around 80,000 people, though it is seeing a resurgence of growth today as more and more young people move into the area.
