Bartlett Medical Waste Disposal

If you are in need of medical waste disposal and don’t want to overpay you are in the right place. Not only do we provide cheap services we also provide incredibly high quality services. Some of these include the standard medical, biohazardous, sharps and pharmaceutical pickup to more specialized product shredding.

Always Saving More

As a part of our commitment to always saving our customers money we take advantage of every technological advance we can. Some of these are as simple as reusable waste containers (which can actually have a large impact on their own) to more advanced live truck routing to ensure our pickups are as efficient as possible. We ensure your service is as cheap as possible, and one large step we do this is actually owning our waste disposal plant. Many companies aren’t willing to do this and instead overcharge for basic services so they can pay someone else to destroy your waste.

Bartlett, Tennessee

Bartlett was first settled in 1866 and was named after Gabriel Bartlett, a businessman and major slave owner in the area. In the early days of the city agriculture was a major player in the economy, but after the civil war and industrial revolution the economy started shifting towards business and manufacturing. Due to movement from Memphis in the 60s the population of Bartlett grew dramatically in the years of 1970s and 80s and today has just under 60,000 residents.

Healthcare Systems

In 2004 the first hospital in Bartlett was opened, Saint Francis Hospital. This hospital has nearly 200 beds including almost 90 surgical beds, 10 neonatal ICU beds and much more. Saint Francis has been awarded a wide range of awards through the years. Some of these include a Chest Pain Center accreditation, an A score by an independent hospital watch group. Bartlett, TN About

Bartlett is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, located northeast of Memphis. In existence since about 1829, Bartlett was incorporated in 1866 and remained a small town for another 100 years. From the "old" town of only 508 people at Stage Road and the railroad in 1960, Bartlett grew rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s both through new residents, largely due to "white flights" from Memphis, and through annexation, primarily to the east and north, to over 54,000 people today. In 2007, it was the ninth largest city in Tennessee.

Bartlett, TN Medical Waste FAQ and Related Searches

What is Medical Waste?

Medical waste is healthcare trash that contains infectious or potentially infectious items. It can come from hospitals, medical clinics, veterinary offices, dental clinics, research facilities, or medical laboratories. It can contain blood or other bodily fluids, or it can appear benign, like gloves or gowns.

According to the Medical Waste Tracking Act of 1988, it’s defined as any waste created during treatment, testing, immunization, research, or diagnosis of human beings and animals. Examples include sharps like scalpels or needles, tissue, fluids, glassware, swabs, culture dishes, or bandages.

What are some Examples of Medical Waste?
  • Expired vaccines
  • Tissue from humans or animals
  • Gowns, gloves, or gauze that may have blood on them
  • Waste from rooms of patients with infectious diseases
  • Needles, scalpels, and broken glass used in procedures
  • Laboratory cultures, stocks, and contaminated culture paraphernalia
  • Bedding from infected animals
What are the types of medical waste?

The WHO identifies the 8 categories of medical waste as:

  • Infectious waste
  • Sharps waste
  • Pathological waste
  • Chemical waste
  • Cytotoxic waste
  • Pharmaceutical waste
  • Radioactive waste
  • Nonhazardous general waste

Those types cover all the potential varieties and sources of regulated and non-regulated healthcare waste.

Who generates medical waste?

You know hospitals and doctor’s offices create medical waste. But blood banks, dental clinics, and urgent care clinics create it too. Pharmacies, veterinary clinics, medical testing labs, research labs, nursing homes, hotels where patients stay, and funeral homes also create regulated waste.

Even an office building can generate biohazardous waste. Why? Because if someone gets a nosebleed at work and uses a tissue to stop it, they’ve created regulated waste. There was a hotel in Boston, next door to Mass General Hospital, was fined twice for medical waste violations from hotel guests.
